babies

So one week til thesis installation. I'm so excited! I haven't been working in my studio for about a month - my ladies can't be in such a dusty environment or they'll ruin their evening wear. This one's a little blurry - I'm not going to give away the good photographs! (It's funny as I just wrote that, I thought about how I get so mad when museums or galleries don't use good images to promote their shows - obviously to not give the work away but entice people enough to come.) My work has gotten really hilarious, and to me, each object has become like my child - doesn't help that they are actually child size and I carry each around, propped on my hip like a baby. I have to remember that they aren't my children, but women with their own identities. This is something I really have to consider when I photograph. It's been fun, setting them up in different situations with eachother and other objects.

Yesterday I was photographing the nailpolish and the perfume bottle at the kitchen table in my house when I noticed that a stool was pushed underneath, making the table cloth look all weird. Right as I go to move it, the perfume bottle threw herself off of the chair and summersaulted to the ground. I swear she hurled itself. The only damage was the loss of 5 jewels, all which can be glued back on. I almost died. These ladies are pretty solid!
